“I am a DJ. I am what I play..."

It’s just a couple more days before our show at Skipper's Smokehouse. And to finish our final rounds of promotion, our own Mark Alan will be on the Thursday edition of WMNF 88.5’s "It's The Music!", hosted by our friend Stuart Mellish.

This will be during the station’s pledge drive. For our contribution, we’ll be offering tickets to this Saturday’s show along with a custom print of its promotional poster for listener’s pledge donations.

It’s The Music Thursday Edition airs from 2PM - 4PM. Our segment will be somewhere during the 3:00 PM portion of the show.

03.Jul.2017Blog: Skipper's/Ziggy 45 - Thank you!

This past Friday\'s Ziggy 45th Anniversary show at Skipper\'s Smokehouse. As always, I was quite surprised by both the number of people that showed up and their response. In this case, my surprise runs due to the fact that we had the weather playing against us and the thought of doing a 2 hour + show featuring an entire album smacked right in the middle of it might seem a little too epic. In the end, we won over Mother Nature and played to a healthy and very appreciative crowd.

What really blew me away was the distance that people traveled to see this gig. There was one person that came up from Sarasota... A number of people of New Port Richey came out and shown their \'Soul Love\'. People who had seen us at Mizner Park Amphitheater last year \"Took A Trip On a Gemni Spacecraft\" from the East coast to see us again. Another one drove down from all the way in Ocala just to hear us play the Ziggy album! What a mind blast! It really speaks to me in terms of how much of David\'s music and life continues to impact us and how much he meant to us all. And to me, since my band and I are playing his music, it\'s very humbling...

I know I\'m not a vocalist of Bowie\'s calibre or a natural performer such as he was. It\'s still something I\'m getting used as I\'ve always had an isntrument in front of me. All I\'ve wanted to do is perform his music. And I\'m very grateful and thank my lucky star that I get to that with a great band of musicians...

To everyone that braved the weather, came out and spent their evening with us - Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart. You guys really made this evening special. We hope to see you again soon. To those that didn\'t come out due to the storms, you missed a great evening of music. Hopefully, it\'ll be sooner than later when the opportunity comes up for another one in the Tampa area.

Tom White and Bonnie - Thank you so much for having us at the Skipperdome. It was certainly an honour and a pleasure in playing such a legendary venue.

Jimmy, our Front of House guy - Thank you for the wonderful work you did with us.

Gloria Fontan - Thank you tendfold for your brilliant costuming and alteration. I absolutely love the work you put into the outfits and giving them the spirits that they require.

Bruno amps for supplying Eric\'s guitar amp for the evening.

My mates in the U.S. Stones - Thanks for giving the evening a good proper kick off. It really meant a lot for having you guys do this show.

All of our family, friends and loved ones for their support.

Finally, the band. Great job once again! Let\'s keep this going and see where we end up!

Cheers,

M.

13.Feb.2017Notes from the Road: Atlanta

A note: Atlanta was absolutely a ball. Stardust Memories took to the stage at Smith's Olde Bar and gave it all to 2 sold out crowds along with our friends and headliner Rumours!

While Friday night gig was touch and go it was still well received. By Saturday Night's show and the first note of Station to Station, we were firing on all cylinders, relaxed and confident. The crowd was really into it. By the end of it, I left from the set feeling very accomplished with what we had set out to do.

The bottom line - ATL loved the band and we love ATL. I'm sure we will be back there sooner than later.

Many thx to Rumours for having us on these gigs. Thank you so much for the opportunity. I can proudly say how wonderful it is to have great musical brothers and sisters. Thanks for your support.

Noah Kess and Mark - Great job on the front of house and Mark mix. Very accommodating and on top of things. Look forward to working with you in the future.

The crew at Smith's for being very so hospitable to the band. Awesome venue. Great people. Great vibes.

David and Jann for sharing your special moment with us on stage.

Rebecca Little for your all your help.

Jez de Wolff and Andrea Musgrave from Tvc15 ATL for their support.

Finally and most importantly - The band. Eric, Brianna, John, Ron, Mark and Ric! We really pulled together and worked as a team on this outing. Not only has this trip made us a better band but a lot closer too. Thanks guys.

To absent friend- Scott, you were greatly missed at these shows but we know you were there in spirit. We look forward to having you back in the fold soon.

To everyone that turned up to the gig - Thank you for all your support and making us feel welcomed! We look forward to seeing you again soon ATL!

We are very pleased to announce our final show of 2016. And this won't just be any ol' show. Thursday, 29 Dec. at The Village Pub in New Port Richey. It's Rise of the Capricorn Soiree '16. We will be celebrating the birthday of our own Mark Alan and many other Capricorns, including the man who inspired this band. David Bowie.

This is an event that Mr. Alan has puts on annually with some of the various musical projects he had been involved with through the years. This came about several years ago as means to do something other than the tried, true and played out pub crawl. For Mark, it's doing what he loves to do the most with the people who means the most to him. Only this time around, it will be performing the music that is ever so dear to him. In return, the band will be honouring (a week shy of) what would've been David's 70th birthday.

So come join us as we celebrate all things Bowie, all things Capricorn and another year ahead for Mr. Alan and Stardust Memories.

Admission is Free. 21+up only. Showtime is 9:30 PM. 6217 Grand Blvd. New Port Richey, FL.

20.Sep.2016Back at the studio - Space Oddity w/ Stormbringer's John Zahner on keys!

How many keyboardists does it take to play Space Oddity? ;)

Stardust Memories: The David Bowie Tribute had a lovely visit during rehearsal last night with our mate, keyboard wizard John Zahner from the legendary Stormbringer (who were rehearsing next door to us). Since John was a part of the initial Stardust Memories line up, it was only natural for him to sit in with us. It was very cool to watch John and Ronnie in action on this. Especially as the former gave some Wakeman-esque Mellotron like strings and the latter's piano a la Mike Garson.

Enjoy!

And if you're ever in the Tampa Bay Area and want to see a top notch band, Stormbringer is greatly recommended.

29.Aug.2016New gig update - 29/8/2016: Stardust Memories and U.S. Stones To Perform at OLL Fall Fest 2016

Joining us for the Fall Fest as the headlining act will be our friends The U.S. Stones! Both bands have been in talks with each other about doing a Bowie/Stones show for sometime and it\'s looking like a dream come true. You will not want to miss this show. Many thanks to our friends in The Black Honkeys for making this happen!

Make sure you mark your calendar for Friday, 14 October. Stardust Memories kicks the shindig off at 7:00 PM.

02.Jul.2016Kiafest Post Show Thoughts

What can we say? Wow. We were really blown away and knocked out by both the turn out and the response to the band's set last night at KIAFest Main Street Blast. Everyone was really on point. Excellent sounds by Phil Barnett and his crew. Chris Meyer, Liz Dainese and Eric - our wonderful tech crew for taking care of us. We are at the mercy of these people. Without them, we would be sunk. And finally, the audience. You were fantastic! Thanks to everyone who came out to help celebrate the life, music and legacy of David Bowie.

Much thanks to Judy Thomas and Steve Schurdell for making this happen for us.

Next stop is Mizner Park Amphitheater Friday, 22 July. Be ready Boca Raton!

Cheers,

M.

02.Jun.2016Dulcet Post Show Thoughts

"Reflecting on last night's showcase and launch party for Stardust Memories....

Wow is all we can really say. To be brutally honest, we had very low expectations of what the turnout and the reception was going to be like and just hoped for the best. Not only was the place packed but the overall vibe was extremely positive. And it showed! We made a note of thanks to everyone last night but I'll make another note of thanks on here....

Bill Farrell from Onstage Music and Tim Cronin for their tremendous help with the sound...
Jim Gravely and Terry William from T Bone Entertainment for providing the fantastic lighting.
Ms. Gloria and Ms. Carlye Starr (aka Spellbound Stitches) for creating my awesome costumes.

Ms. Patty Anderson at Salon West FL for the Bowie-fying hair.

Dulcet Restaurant & Lounge for allowing us to put on this shindig.

Of course, everyone who turned up. I'm happy to know that there was a lot of love for this project. Thanks for hanging with us and letting us unveil it to all of you.

Cheers!

M.
